Additional Notes

To be eligible to take SOC400W, all students must take and pass SOC207 and a 300/400 level STAT class.  These are firm pre-requisites.

*STAT 200 is technically not a required course; however, it is storngly recommended as preparation for the required upper level STAT courses.

**For Social Science Field options, choose from ANTH, ECON, GEOG, HIST, LER, PL SC, PSYCH, CAS, CRIM and HD FS.  9 of the 18 credits must be at the 400 level.  If you have a concurrent major with CRIM and desire to use it for the SS Field, you must complete the LCS Certificate.

***Electives vary depending on chosen math courses (110/111 or 140/141)

General Education courses are interchangeable; students may choose the general education course(s) they wish to take in any given semester based on preference, availability, and academic goals.

Note:  Students enrolled in, or hoping to enroll in, majors in the College of the Liberal Arts are expected to attend the University Park campus once they have earned a total of 57 credits.  No more than 91 credits earned while enrolled at another Penn State College or at another institution may be applied toward degrees granted by the College of the Liberal Arts.  A minimum of 24 of the credits related to the primary area of study stipulated under "requirements for the major" must be completed at University Park.  (For example, Sociology majors must complete 24 credits of "Soc" courses at University Park.)  Senior or capstone courses required for the major must be completed at University Park.

Scheduling patterns vary for courses according to the semester they are taught.

GWS, GHA, GQ, GN, GA, GH, and GS are codes used to identify General Education requirements.

US, IL, and US;IL are codes used to designate courses that satisfy University United States/International Cultures requirements which overlap with General Education requirements.

W is the code used to designate courses that satisfy the University Writing Across the Curriculum requirement.

All students will take a Liberal Arts First-Year Seminar Course their first or second semester that will also count as general education.

Legend
